Background: Chester is a hulking ball of matted hair. His condition is mysterious and he’s interested in learning more. He is short, angry, and aggressively tattooed. A gruff manner and reclusive tendencies make communication with other(?) humans a challenge. Tired of being encouraged to join a medicine show, he’s finally given in to the pressure.

Junction, Texas

Episode 2: Chester arrived to Junction in style, riding on the roof of a train. He tormented disembarking passengers on the station platform until a brave porter beat him back with a mop. He met the intrigued strongman Julius, and the pair decided to find the medicine show’s camp together.

Episode 3: Chester waited outside an abandoned house while Julius investigated broken bottles. His keen eye spotted the hobo from the house (Earl) attempting to steal from Julius’ trunk. Chester stood by as Julius tossed the hobo back into the home. At the medicine show, Chester auditioned athletically but failed to intimidate the crowd. Channeling his aggression, he scared the children before the compère (Pinky) appeared with a liger (Randy) on a leash to spice up the act. After crashing into a stack of crates and freeing the enclosed doves, Chester managed to tame the big cat. During his bow, Chester ate a dove belonging to the animal trainer (Viktor) mid-flight.

Episode 4: Chester had a bizarre encounter with Professor Bleeker during a tour of his curiosity wagon. He convinced Bleeker to loan him a “magic” letter opener that purportedly cuts through bone and iron. Bleeker forced Chester to eat the black sludge of a night gaunt, but failed to convince him to try on his “Dead Man’s Pants” made up of the skinned lower half of a wizard. After the meeting, Chester went with Pinky to meet his new tentmate Jimmy, an eager but annoying failed performer. In the morning, Chester and Jimmy watched a confrontation between Pinky and Viktor unfold before joining a larger group for breakfast. Chester accompanied Moni, Patience, and Eli to the train station where Moni’s man friend Milford was stuck in a water stop. Staying on the ground, Chester was swarmed and bitten by angry rats as he ran on all fours.
